Pain is the Portal
A friend pushed my buttons this week.
“…imagine if what’s coming up in your relationship IS informing your destiny? Like, the material must be confronted to give rise to the significance of your gifts to the world.” — thanks Mark Groves
I have thought of little else since.
This post flowed through me the next day:

The material must be confronted!
Yes, I typed that twice.
In order to meet my destiny, I must confront the struggle(s) that I am having in my life.
And so must you.
This is the only way.
You Can’t Stay, You Aren’t Ready to Go
A dear friend reached out to comment on the post above.
He is in it. Right in the mix. In the washing machine. Wobbling.
Living his old life to pay the bills.
Already agreeing to his new life which does not really pay the bills. Not quite, not yet, and of course that’s the case.
It’s clear what he must do. There is no option.
His 80-year-old-self is cheering for him to keep going.
Yet, the amount of struggle and fear and discomfort is mountainous.
Equally, the amount of courage, bravery, and commitment he is displaying is massive.
Nobody said this would be easy, did they ?
Keep going.
Let’s not sugarcoat it — there’s a price for massive change.
The Gift of Massive Change
I am once again on the other side of a massive change.
This one though, was the biggest of my life (so far).
All the things.
Everything different.
Life has been altered.
There is no going back.
All of it up in the air.
The snow globe shaken rather violently. The pot stirred with a vita mix.
And now we are settling, just a little bit.
I am here to report back (after 3 weeks): it’s worth it.
And it does take everything.
It’s Not Romantic
When you are in the struggle, in the hallway between your old life and moving towards the door to your new life — you will be tested completely.
How badly do you want it?
What are you willing to do?
What I know now, what is clear to me, is that it is the struggle, the test, the discomfort that shapes you.
The new identity must replace the old identity.
It’s much less an evolution and much more an extinction.
The old self dying to make room for the new self.
It’s not romantic. It’s really fucking hard.
Just ask the brave and inspiring .
Or the courageous and powerful .
Or maybe you want to live in a cabin in the woods like ?
Well be prepared for all kinds of stuff under the floor boards and in the walls. Like a metric fuck ton of ants. And then maybe some bad news from the local government.
Amazing post here: Stubborn with the Dream, Flexible with the Plan
Keep going you people!
Help is Helpful
This may be becoming the line that is in every post I write.
This is what I have learned, and maybe relearned for the last time, is how important help is.
For the last time because I won’t forget again. I can’t fathom attempting something like what these people are doing, and what we just went through, without some help.
In related matters: it’s the help that shapes us as well. Who shows up when we put up a hand? Do you live your life worthy of people showing up to help?
It’s Closer Than You Think
I really believe this.
And getting there may require moving a mountain.
It will require all you’ve got.
I know you can do it.
And that the whole thing is a bit easier with some help.
Keep going. You are amazing.
