Last week I wrote this piece:

Pretty proud of it. Had a good vibe. I recorded the voiceover myself; you can listen to me read it to you (same as this post).

People liked it, which is a bonus.

It holds up a week later.

I fully believe we can have the life of our dreams. And that it’s possible sooner than we think.

However, there’s a bit more to it. At least in my experience.

The Price of Admission

There is a price to be paid for the life of your dreams.

Most people are not willing to pay it. Are you?

The price is your old life.

Your current identity.

Potentially your relationships.

The safety nets.

Possibly some income.

Maybe even the grande double-blended Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino, extra whip, extra drizzle with sprinkles.

Because the person you are in the life of your dreams doesn’t drink sugar anymore.

In sum, what got you here is valuable and it won’t get you there.

You Will Feel It

It’s uncomfortable.

It might feel like you are dying. If so, you are on the right track.

The story of who we are and all the wiring supporting that story needs to be updated. Our nervous system needs to be updated.

A part of you needs to die, to make room.

Fear is necessary.

No way to substitute that part or work around it. The price must be paid.

What I am here to tell you is that you can’t get there without this part.

There will be twisting, turning, contorting. Some dead ends. Maybe some staring at the ceiling.

And,and, there is excitement! Expansion. Joy. Anticipation. Regularly feeling the chills (happening as I type this).

You get to feel your life. Fully.

I am also here to tell you…it’s worth it.

An example

A dear friend and coach has been putting the time in working for a coaching group for 4 years. She has known for a while, at least a year (maybe forever), that she is called to do her own thing.

It took a year to get there.

She resigned this week. What she is feeling:

“Relieved.”

“Resolute.”

“Angry.”

“Excited.”

“Nervous.”

“Surrendering.”

She’s right on track.

Congratulations! Keep going sister.

You Want (and Deserve) A Bigger Life

Along with all the change and discomfort and excitement, you can expect bigger problems.

This is another sign you are on the right track.

New, more difficult, unknown problems.

“True happiness occurs only when you find the problems you enjoy having and enjoy solving.” - Mark Manson

As you step into your new identity, your new life, you get to take on new problems.

The Gift

I seek to live my life from a place of heart and soul.

To look at my schedule and be elated with what I get to do with my days.

I stepped away from the corporate world.

Moved my family to the side of a mountain, and for the last 5 years, cooked breakfast for my kids.

Because I wanted to.

Now I am stepping into creating/writing and coaching - because I want to.

What do you want?

What do you seek?

Would love to help you get that.
